About ASDD
ASDD Document Destruction is a division of The Centers for Habilitation - TCH. An Arizona Shredding Company.
TCH is a non-profit organization that since 1967 has been dedicated to employing, providing services for and empowering more than 1,000 Arizonans living with developmental disabilities.
In 2003 we were approached by an organization called Ability One that asked if we were interested in beginning a document destruction business. They offered us one small government contract and a grant for that would help with business start-up but made it very clear that we would need to grow the company commercially ourselves.
After completing an environmental scan of the business environment we decided that there was an opportunity in the document destruction business. We discovered that small business was largely ignored by most document destruction companies so we made the decision to focus on growing our business through meeting the needs of small business.
We focused on customer service, acting as a technical assistance provider and flexibility and over the course of two years we had a nice small business started. Through that growth we learned and positioned ourselves to be able to successfully service larger and more complicated accounts.
Three years ago we were successful in our partnered bid (with Beacon Secure in Tucson) and secured the document destruction contract for the State of Arizona. This has led to continued growth for ASDD.
Also three years ago we realized that ASDD could not compete for many contracts because we were just a small local company and most of the larger organizations that we wanted to do business with have a national presence and national contracting. ASDD along with five other companies in the western United States with similar dual missions, founded the Secure Document Alliance (SDA) with the goals offering employment opportunities to people with disabilities and serving customers on a national level. The idea took and today this alliance of companies has grown to over 50 covering more than 40 states and the SDA has begun securing service contracts with national companies.
This national presence is now helping with the continued growth of Assured Security.Five years from start-up with our one small business contract for whom we shredded ½ ton of paper per week and were able to employ 6 very part-time employees we have grown to a customer list that exceeds 1000, we average 60-70 tons a week of shredded paper and we have 65 employees who work between 30 and 40 hours per week.
ASDD also employs adults with developmental disabilities, giving them the opportunity for greater social and economic independence. Our customers receive secure destruction of their confidential information while making a positive impact in our community.
100% of the revenue generated from ASDD goes toward fulfilling TCH’s mission and continuing to provide services for people with disabilities.
We proudly provide shredding services for state agencies, city governments, military facilities, school districts, hospitals, medical offices, legal offices, police departments, financial centers, real estate offices and numerous other businesses in Arizona.
